Thinking Globally, Acting Locally

Dutchess County is home to numerous immigrant communities; some old, some new. Many women from these communities do not have access to much-needed services because of a language barrier and the lack of a working knowledge of the community.

We believe that all women in this community should have access to services that fulfill their basic needs including education and vocational training, employment, healthcare, resources for their children, financial management, housing, transportation, senior services, and legal services.

The goals of our program are:

  • To become knowledgeable about existing community resources

  • To develop partnerships with representatives of nonprofits that provide primary services

  • To provide workshops in partnership with these nonprofits to make economically-disadvantaged women aware of available support

  • To provide some follow up to ensure that women attending the workshops have been able to access services

Program planning is underway. If you would like to join us in planning this program, please contact the Committee Chair or 845/340-7311
